To safeguard against lack of interest/participation there is a minimum turnout of 25% both by number of businesses and by rateable value.
In practice turnout is usually 60-70 percent.
We must comply with govt. regulations to ensure that every eligible business is given the option to vote.
The ballot is held by an independent company, Electoral Reform Services
So far we have sent out three mail shots to every business. We have held drop in sessions at the Town Hall, a strategy workshop (with DCDC) and one to one consultations with business owners. We have also had widespread coverage by the SPP Group in the Ross-Shire Journal, North Star, Highland News and Inverness Courier. (Also inside the ‘Executive’ monthly Magazine) The BID website is at www.dingwallbid.com and we have continually used social media outlets Facebook and Twitter.
Our contact email address, firstname.lastname@example.org is always active. Anyone with questions can visit our project manager at the BID office in Athole Court, off Dingwall High Street
There will be at least two further mailshots, one including the business plan and one with the voting forms, we are also planning many more one to one meetings.
It is important that every business USES THEIR VOTE, and has a say in the future of Dingwall.
